First Week as a Grade 12 Student
MY FIRST WEEK AS A GRADE 12 STUDENTS
August 02, 2024
Last Monday, July 29, was the start of S.Y. 2024-2025, our class stared at 12:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Me and my friends gathered at one place to go to school together, and while we're on our way to school, a heavy rain greets us. Me and my friends are riding motorcycles, so the heavy rain easily slips through every side of the motorcycle and wets us, especially me because I was seated nearer to the entrance. I prepared my uniform two days before the class, so it was a little bit frustrating to get it wet in such an unexpected incident. Yes, it was unexpected because the weather was nice before we went. Arriving at the main campus of our school, Masbate National Comprehensive High School, and seeing students with their umbrellas made me realize that I forgot mine, so I needed to run through the rain from the motorcycle to the nearest school building as fast as I could; thankfully, the nearest building from the main gate was our building. Soaking wet, I went to our room and fixed myself—well, not my wet clothes. As I entered the room, our new teacher, Mr. Samson Capinig, and some of my classmates were already there. I set near the window to get dry fast. As the time passed, my classmates already arrived, and our teacher started to introduce himself, the rules we must follow, the list of awards that we can get, the grading system, and the lessons we were going to tackle in our subject HUMSS 1. Then next is our ICL, which we spent in our room and used to select the new classroom officers. After that, we went down to our subject, Practical Research 2, which is located on the first floor of our building. We met our teacher, and he introduced himself, and so did we, the students. The introduction was actually fun because our teacher is funny yet serious, of course. Practical Research 2 is the last subject for the Monday schedule, actually, it's our electives, which is our last subject, but unfortunately, our schedule for that is not yet fixed, so we don't have classes. I was thrilled that the day went well. I was thrilled that the day went well. I really wanted my first day to be memorable, welcoming, and fun, and it was indeed memorable. "It just reminded me that not everything that starts bad will end bad"
The next day, Tuesday, we're going to be meeting out three subject teachers in the 21st century, which are Mrs. Jennifer Garcia, Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person with Mr. Leo-roy Paulo, and Applied Economics II with Mrs. Mariazel Labariño. Like our first day, this day focuses more on the introduction of ourselves, rules, and lessons. In the 21st century, our subject teacher teaches us the proper way to make crooked during prayer and groups usfor the next activities. In our subject, Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person, Sir Leo-roy or Sir L didn't make us introduce ourselves; he proceeded with our topics, saying that he doesn't like repetitive tasks. And for our applied economics, Mrs. Mariazel made us introduce ourselves in a creative way, which was fun. To be honest, I was very nervous meeting these new teachers, but the way they handled us was very enjoyable, fun, comfortable, and supportive. And it made me realize that nervousness melts away in the warmth of supportive company.
On the third day, Wednesday, HUMSS 1 is our schedule subject. First, Mr. Capinig did a retest, then proceeded to discuss the first lesson, which is Technical Writing vs. Creative Writing. Then, on our next subject, Practical Research 2, our subject teacher just made a list of attendees and let us do whatever we needed to do because of the still-unfixed schedule for our electives. In our next subject, Personal Development with Ma'am Leizl C. Mendez, I would say that this subject is my favorite. It's just in this subject that we are able to know ourselves, be ourselves, and conquer ourselves. I have never been this happy over a subject that understands my mental wellbeing. Ma'am Leizl also has this comforting, calm voice, and I like it. I am looking forward to this subject.
On the fourth day, Thursday, we are scheduled with Ma'am Jennifer, or what we call Ma'am Pep. Ma'am Pep just gave us our group name and assigned our group to where we are going to clean. After that, there is a break before going to our next subject, which is PE 3, so we went to our school canteen to buy some snacks, then we proceeded to our next subject and waited because Ma'am Barbosa was still with her class. The class went well; it was a very energetic afternoon with Ma'am Barbosa. We really didn't do anything but introduce ourselves with energy. Then we went to our last subject, Applied Economics, but we were told that Ma'am Labariño had a meeting, so she let us go home early.
Then, on the last but not least day, Friday, we didn't have classes from 12:30 to 1:15 pm, so I went to school at 1:02 pm, but we didn't have HRGP. We just stayed outside the room to be on our next subject from 2:00 to 3:30 pm with Sir L on the subject Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person. Sir L just divided us into 6 districts to have an icebreaker in the middle of the lesson so everyone wouldn't get bored. After that, he dismissed us, and I went home. I can say that this day is draining, especially since I am still adjusting to a lot of aspects, but I did survived, and I want to keep surviving.
